Liability!

This particular picture is of me and a quarter of a million dollars. What kind of genius would let me, of all people, play that kind of money? I'll never tell.

Okay, so a number of concerts you should hit:

Thursday Oct. 25 8pm
Jordan Winds - Jordan Hall, Boston
I'll be subbing for my old school on bass clarinet. I'm only playing the Hindemith, but it's a free concert. All are welcome. This band contains what will hopefully become the performers of the day after tomorrow (I'll be one of tomorrow.).

Sat. And Sun. Nov. 3 and 4
Cape Cod Symphony
Google your way to the website for start times and places. Sat. is an evening concert while Sun. is an afternoon affair. I'll be playing Eb clarinet on these for Bernstein's 'Symphonic Dances from West Side Story' and other stuff. Should be fun.

Thurs. Nov 8 (7 or 8)pm
Jordan Hall, Boston
I'm playing a solo clarinet piece by Mee Eun Jeon as part of a concert honoring NEC alumni composers. She'll be coming up from Maryland for the show. The piece is hard and I've only had it a few days.

There's work to be done, so I'm off.

Brooklyn Bluegrass

These gents played a set in Cambridge tonight. They were much better than the warmup band, who crapped upon some John Hartford tunes. Thank the FSM there wasn't any cover. The crowd could have been helped considerably with a bar of soap too.

Ignorant Educators

Today I heard something that's indicative of how representative our willfully ignorant Administration actually is. I heard a school teacher/administrator claim proudly that she doesn't ''do computers.'' She thought that, as she had survived up to this point without any knowledge of how to use a computer, she won't ever have a use for those skills. Thank the FSM I wasn't asked for my opinion. I never thought willfull ignorance was a charming character trait much less for an educator.

I think that I'm going to like this mobile blogging thing. I'm sitting in a classroom waiting for my little musicians to show up.

I had a concert last Sunday night that, for me, went fairly well. I'm finally getting the projection I need, I think. Now I need to put it to use in an audition.

The whitey at the top was a fluffy playpal this past weekend. Cute, huh? I don't think she's used to fancypants camera phones.
